Outdoor work across Central Arkansas
Patios and Porches Built in Hot Springs, AR
Paver patios, covered porches, screened porches and outdoor kitchens, built in pavers, cedar and treated lumber. We check the ground before the first paver goes down, and the finish is the part you look at for years.
The range of work
Patios, porches and ground work
Paver patios, covered porches, screened porches and outdoor kitchens take heavy materials. Treated lumber framing goes up for roofs and posts, and cedar plank walls finish the space. Large-format pavers go down over a prepared base for an even surface. We build these projects across Garland County and Central Arkansas.
A hard rain tests the finish of a new patio. Swept joints stay tight between the pavers, and a spiked edge restraint keeps the border from creeping. We also do the gravel yard and the drainage run as part of our exterior repairs.

Grade, base and edge
What goes under a patio
A paver patio in Hot Springs needs a flat grade before any stones go down. A compacted gravel base goes over the dirt to make a solid foundation. A spiked edge restraint pins the outer border so the stones stay locked together.
The dirt work happens first and sets the final height of the ground. The gravel base gets packed down hard with a heavy plate compactor. Large-format pavers go down last over the leveled base.
A trained crew looks for the common problems in the early stages of a job, before the first paver goes down.

BeforeAfterThe work
Four kinds of outdoor work
A paver patio
Large-format pavers over a compacted base, running out from a French door to the lawn or squared off against the siding. Plate-compacted joints, swept tight, so the field locks together and the border stays straight. Stained concrete slabs are work we do as well.
A covered porch
A roof on set posts over the back of the house. The framing ties into the line of the roof already there. Decking underfoot, railing to match, and a downspout extension carrying the runoff clear of the slab.
A screened porch
Screen closing in a porch that already has a roof. The posts and the roof stay where they are and the openings between them close in tight to the frame. The yard stays in view and the bugs stay out of the furniture.
An outdoor kitchen
A room with the grill built into it. The one at the lake house went into the end of an upper porch and took cedar plank walls, with two picture windows framed in cedar looking into the woods. A built-in gas grill is next to a stainless sink island.

The change
Bare ground to finished patio
We work from bare dirt and a half-laid course out to a finished paver patio going to the lawn. Another job goes from raked dirt behind an outbuilding out to a large-format paver patio against new siding.
We take a framed stud wall and an OSB floor out to a cedar outdoor kitchen. That finished space has two cedar-framed picture windows and a built-in gas grill. A stainless sink island gives you an area for food prep.
The two halves of each photograph are the same job.

BeforeAfter
BeforeAfterWhat it costs
What moves the price
The square footage sets the material count. The paver or the material you pick moves the number again. The grade and the drainage under the footprint set how much work happens before the first paver goes down, and a roof overhead adds the posts and the framing to hold it up.
One written quote follows the site visit, and the price stays the same unless you change the scope. Ask for a free estimate and we set a time to come look at the ground. The visit costs you nothing.

Where we work
Patios and porches in Hot Springs
We take patio and porch jobs in Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village. Outdoor jobs depend on the weather and on ground that drains, and this is ground we know. Your week sets the schedule.

The house getting a new patio usually has a list of inside jobs too. A step-free shower is work we do, and so is the full bathroom remodel behind it.

Questions about patio work
Can you screen in a porch I already have?
Yes, as long as the porch already has a roof over it. You choose how much of the opening closes in and how much stays open to the yard. A slab with no roof over it needs the covered porch built first.
Can a patio tie into a deck I already have?
Yes. The pavers go in at the height of the bottom step, and the two surfaces meet flat with no lip between them. Deck work and patio work run on one visit and one quote.
What happens to the water coming off the roof?
The water leaves before it reaches the patio, because the downspout extension empties out past the edge of the new surface. A graded gravel run takes that water on toward the fence line, and that run is part of our exterior repair work. Nothing empties onto the pavers.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. Somebody comes out, measures the space and looks at how the ground slopes while standing in it. The written quote that follows costs you nothing either.
